TWD: Tribute-To-Katherine-Hepburn Brownies

What is it about

BROWNIES

that brings back those nostalgic longings for childhood?

For me its the memories of bakesales,
of baking with mom,
of girlscouts,
of childhood friends,
of summer nights...

These brownies are the grown-up manifestation of all those memories for me. They are the ultimate comfort food.

These brownies were so simple to make with only a few ingredients, but they taste like a million bucks.

Katherine Hepburn's secret to the perfect brownie is to use the least amount of flour possible (1/2 cup in this recipe). This makes the batter extra moist.

These brownies get their "adult" flair from the addition of rich coffee, smooth dark chocolate, and crunchy pecans.

They come out of the oven with a gorgeous crusty top, but are moist and gooey on the inside. This is no cake-style brownie recipe. These are the real deal!

These brownies are absolutely perfect. They are soft with bits of melted chocolate and crunchy pecans in every bite.

You've got to try them.

For the recipe, see Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan, or read surviving oz. Don’t forget to check out the TWD Blogroll!

I agree that brownies are the best comfort food. They look great with the powdered sugar, glad you enjoyed them!
