The Best Thing I Ever Ate - Sandwich Edition

Have you seen the new show on Food Network called The Best Thing I Ever Ate? If you haven't seen it, it showcases all the celebrity chefs and tells you where to get their absolute favorite foods.

Well Sunday I had my very own
THE BEST FOOD I EVER ATE
experience.

We went to this little cafe in Berkeley called

It was the cutest little place with a great atmosphere that was a tribute to New Orleans. It had all the typical cajun fare: jambalaya, red beans and rice, hush puppies, fried chicken.

But the star of the show for me was the Shrimp Po' Boy.

Holy deliciousness.

The soft, warm roll piled high with crispy fried shrimp, cool shredded lettuce, juicy slices of tomato, and the perfect combo of mayo, mustard and hot sauce. The breading on the shimp was perfectly seasoned with salty cajun seasoning and fried to perfection. The combination of the hot sauce and spice on the shrimp was the perfect amount of heat. It was like a symphony in my mouth.

This means that I now need to find a way to make this at home and try to make it healthier. I know I won't be able to duplicate this masterpiece of a sandwich, but I'm darn well going to try.

All I have to say is (in my sad attempt at a Southern drawl):

Y'all have gotta go and try it for ya'selves!

You will not regret it.
