an-tici-pation

As part of my new years resolution this year, I decided to figure out an exercise routine that I would be cheap and that I would stick with.

I started with the usual suspects: the gym, step aerobics, the elliptical. But I grew bored very quickly. I decided that I needed to get myself out of the gym and enjoy the great outdoors. Living within a block of a lake with a marked 2 mile loop, I decided to take up jogging.

And BAM (Emeril style?), I was hooked.

Since March I've been training for my first half marathon. I have been running with the Galloway San Jose training group out of Willow Glen and it has been a BLAST. We use the run/walk method developed by the legendary Jeff Galloway and the training has been totally doable and enjoyable.

That's right people... enjoyable.

I never thought I would ever say I enjoyed running, but now I can honestly say that I'm a runner.

Katie is a runner!

On July 26th, I'm running the San Francisco Half Marathon. We ran part of the race route a couple Saturdays ago. It's going to be a beautiful run across the Golden Gate bridge and ending in GG park.

THE VIEW OF SF FROM THE BRIDGE

This Saturday we are going all the way and doing 14 miles. Its the last long training run before the race. I'm really looking forward to it, but also dreading it a little. My brain has finally caught up with me and keeps saying things like:

What the heck are you doing?
Are you going to make it?
Who wants to run for 3 hours straight?

But I'm determined not to let it get to me. Thankfully I will have people there to support me and a great group to run with. We always have fun and running with someone is always way more fun than running alone.

If you're interested in learning more about the program or in joining us on Saturdays (the San Jose Rock and Roll Half is coming up in October!) just leave comment!

Happy running!

Good luck with the race! It sounds like you're well-prepared. I'm actually running the other half of the SF marathon!
